Accessibility Strategist
A leading healthcare company is seeking an Accessibility Strategist in Boston, MA. This is a hybrid-remote, long-term contract position with the opportunity to convert to full-time, permanent employment. The Accessibility Consultant will make a meaningful impact to help deliver accessible digital experiences that are inclusive and equitable for all users. This opportunity offers the chance to play a key role in transforming digital systems, including websites, software, and other technologies, by identifying accessibility gaps and providing strategic solutions to meet accessibility standards.

- A background in digital product strategy or technology industry experience and 7+ years’ experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with experience developing user interfaces.
- Strong working knowledge of accessibility frameworks, such as Section 508, EN 349 501, WCAG 2.X.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex concepts clearly to stakeholders.
- Provide a detailed case study in which you have audited, planned, implemented, and saw results from your accessibility solution and execution. Detail the challenges you had to overcome, who you collaborated with, and the thought process of the solution provided.
- Experience in testing and validating web interfaces against design specifications to ensure technical requirements are met. Specializations with digital properties are a plus:
- Mobile Testing (Android and iOS)
- Design, Component Libraries, and Design Systems.
- Web Frameworks (Angular, React, React Native, Flutter, SPA).
- Unity, Embedded Software, VR, or Hardware (ex: Kiosks, POS).
- Document Accessibility (PDF, Word, PowerPoint).
Accessibility Strategist Responsibilities:
- Lead a comprehensive audit of digital properties, including websites, applications, and documents, to identify accessibility barriers. Use assistive technology tools and manual testing to assess compliance with accessibility standards.
- Develop strategic recommendations to guide internal resources in resolving accessibility issues. Partner closely with product and development to provide actionable guidance on creating inclusive and accessible interfaces.
- Collaborate with research and design resources to identify and define user interface components that require testing. Conduct detailed evaluations to validate compliance.
- Establish roadmaps for implementing accessibility changes. Collaborate with product, design, and technology teams to develop comprehensive strategies that improve digital accessibility and enhance the user experience for all individuals with disabilities.
- Communicate findings and strategies effectively to drive awareness and buy-in from stakeholders. Maintain consistency and quality in accessibility assessments and recommendations.
